Terms of use

The rules for using EmployTrail, written as plainly as we can.

Draft for review. This wording describes how EmployTrail works today and must be reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer before launch. Items in [BRACKETS] still need filling in.

1. Who we are

EmployTrail is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (RC [RC NUMBER]), [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using EmployTrail you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

2. Your account

3. Employees

4. Businesses and households

5. Guarantors

Guarantors agree to the guarantor terms, which form part of these terms.

6. Credits and payment

7. Things you must not do

8. Letters

Letters issued through EmployTrail are statements by the issuing business. Anyone can check a letter’s code. A business can withdraw a letter, and checks will then show it as withdrawn.

9. What EmployTrail is, and isn’t

We record what employers confirm and what guarantors sign, and we label clearly how far each item has been checked. We don’t guarantee that what an employer, employee or guarantor tells us is accurate, and “worth asking about” flags are prompts for a conversation, not findings. Hiring decisions are yours.

10. Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. You can ask us to close your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Liability

[LIMITATION OF LIABILITY CLAUSE TO BE DRAFTED BY COUNSEL.]

12. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we’ll tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use EmployTrail means you accept the updated terms.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. [COURTS / ARBITRATION SEAT TO BE CONFIRMED BY COUNSEL.]
